Portsmouth 10U Defeats Lamprey River, 12-4

Portsmouth’s 10U district team (5-1) won its final NH District 2 pool play game 12-4 on Wednesday night at Plains Field. The team, who competed as the visiting team (coin flip), took on a talented Lamprey River team in the evening matchup at Plains Field.  

Portsmouth opened the scoring in the first inning after Ryder Raizes singled and advanced to third on passed balls. A single by Grady Maloney scored Raizes.

Lamprey River strung together three singles of their own in the bottom half of the inning to plate two runs. 

Portsmouth’s patience at the plate played a role in the team scoring eight runs in the second inning.

Dreyton Srimouksavanh reached on an error and scored on a single by Tyler Hodges. Four walks and two batters reaching base on a hit-by-pitch, allowed single off the bat of Ryan Poulin to make the score 7-2. Drew Larrabee followed with a single of his own add two more runs for Portsmouth.

Lamprey River scored two in the bottom of the third. Portsmouth plated three more runs in the final frame to help secure the 12-4 win.

Raizes earned the win on the mound for Portsmouth. He gave up nine hits and four runs (three earned) over six innings, striking out nine and walking one.

Hodges went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Portsmouth in hits.

Portsmouth now awaits final seeding for the single-elimination, 10U Tournament which takes place in Suncook on July 20-21.
