Portsmouth Little League’s 12U District Team took down North Manchester-Hooksett Little League (NMH LL) 4-2 on Tuesday at Hislop Park in another District 2 pool game.
In a game continued from Tuesday night’s rainout, Portsmouth, the visiting team as determined via coin flip, took to the field on Wednesday with a 1-0 lead.
On Tuesday, Portsmouth jumped on the board in the first inning after Griffin Gamester singled, scoring one run.
On Wednesday, the game continued in the bottom of the second inning. NMH LL tied the game at one in the bottom of the second.
In the top of the third, a double by Lucas LaFleur gave Portsmouth the lead, 2-1.
Gamester and Max Poulin led off the fourth inning with back-to-back singles, and a ground ball by Nathaniel Blanchard allowed Gamester to score to give Portsmouth a 3-1 lead.
Portsmouth added one more run in the top of the sixth thanks to a leadoff single by Cooper Peelman, a walk, and two passed balls that allowed him to score with two outs.
Myles Robillard earned the win for Portsmouth. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and one run over five innings, striking out seven and walking four. Poulin appeared in relief in the sixth inning and faced five batters. He gave up two hits and one run (unearned) while
striking out two.
Portsmouth 12U (5-0) will travel to Lamprey River LL for their next game on Thursday at 5:45 PM.
