Portsmouth’s 11U District Team scored seven runs in the fourth inning, which helped them defeat Somersworth 13-1 on Tuesday at SYB LL Field in Somersworth.
Portsmouth was the first to get on the board in the first when a passed ball scored one run, but Somersworth tied the game at one in the bottom of the first.
A single by Gus O’Shaughnessy gave Portsmouth the lead, 3-1, in the top of the third.
In the fourth, Nolan Malinowski drew a walk, scoring one run. Marco Scardina singled, scoring two runs. Then, an error allowed one run to score. Fletcher Jackson tripled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one more run for Portsmouth.
Josh Miller started on the bump for Portsmouth. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and one run over three and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking one.
Malinowski threw one and one-third innings of scoreless ball for Portsmouth. The reliever gave up zero hits, striking out four and walking one.
Jackson led PLL with two runs batted in. Rory O’Brien and O’Shaughnessy each collected two hits for Portsmouth. Max Levine led PLL with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game.
