10U Comes Up Short Against North Manchester-Hooksett LL
Portsmouth LL - District 10U could not keep pace with North Manchester Hooksett LL and fell 7-4 on Monday night.
In both teams’ first game back on the field since July 3, North Manchester-Hooksett got on the board in the top of the first inning scoring four runs on five hits and never looked back.
PLL was able to scratch two runs across in the bottom of the first inning after Joey Coakley led off with a hard single to right field. A passed ball and throwing error allowed Coakley to score from first.
Ryder Raizes added a line drive single to left field, and Ryan Poulin laid down a perfect bunt single to advance Raizes to second. Raizes later scored from third on a steal attempt by Drew Larrabee.
NMH added a run in the top of the second, and PLL battled back with two more run in the bottom half of the inning thanks to singles from Grady Maloney, Drew Cresta and Gabe Fournier. Larrabee added a single in the bottom of the fourth inning, but NMH was able to keep Portsmouth’s bats silent in the latter innings. Their pitchers collected 10 strikeouts in the win.
Bennett Smith took the loss for Portsmouth. The starting pitcher went two innings, allowing five runs on seven hits, striking out five and walking two. Dreyton Srimouksavanh pitched the final four frames. The reliever gave up three hits and two runs while striking out four and walking none.
PLL’s District 10U team plays their final pool game at home on Wednesday against Lamprey River at Plains Field at 5:45 PM.
