The Portsmouth Little League 10U District Team scored 13 runs in the second inning, which helped them defeat Somersworth 17-1 on Tuesday.
They captured the lead, 4-1, in the bottom of the first when an error scored two runs. Nolan Malinowski singled, scoring one run, and Max Levine’s RBI ground out allowed one more run to score.
Portsmouth tallied six hits including a double and single by Joey Coakley. Malinowski had two singles, and Jackson Kern and Rory O'Brien each added a single of their own, too.
Malinowski started the game for Portsmouth. The starting pitcher allowed zero hits and one run (zero earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking four. Josh Miller threw one and one-third innings of no-run ball for Portsmouth in relief. He allowed zero hits, striking out two and walking two.
