O’Brien, Gillen Toss Combined No-Hitter as PLL 10U Powers Past Laconia

Portsmouth, NH – The Portsmouth Little League (PLL) 10U District team (3-1) scored 13 runs in the third inning, which helped them defeat Laconia 17-1 on Friday.  Portsmouth was the first to get on the board in the first when Marco Scardina stole third base and home to score one run.

 

Portsmouth extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the second before tacking on 13 runs in the third.

 

Nolan Malinowski led Portsmouth with two hits in three at bats, including a double. Jackson Kern went 1-for-3 at the plate, and the infielder led the team with two runs batted in. Rory O’Brien (2B), Pierce Gillen, Angus McCafferty and Josh Miller contributed hits in the team’s win, too.

 

O’Brien earned the win on the mound for Portsmouth and struck out five Laconia batters. He and Gillen combined to toss a no-hitter, and Gillen struck out three in his one inning of relief.   

 

The PLL 10U District Team continues to play in the District 2 Round Robin on Saturday, July 15 at 12:30 PM versus Lamprey River in Auburn.
