Second-Inning Burst Enough To Lead Concord Past Portsmouth Little League 10U District Team

Portsmouth, NH – Concord 10U All Stars defeated the Portsmouth Little League 10U District Team 16-1 on Saturday thanks in part to 12 runs in the second inning.

Portsmouth LL 10U opened the scoring in the second inning.  Rory O’Brien was hit by a pitch with one out, and after stealing two bases scored on a groundball by Pierce Gillen.

Concord flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring 12 runs on five hits to take a 12-1 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Patrick Fennessy that drove in three.

Josh Miller took the loss for Portsmouth LL 10U. The starting pitcher went one inning, giving up 11 runs (eight earned) on five hits, walking four. In relief, Ryder Raizes pitched 1.2 innings giving up five runs (zero earned) on two hits, with two strikeouts. Gillen closed out the game for the team.

Miller had the sole hit for Portsmouth in the contest and went 1-for-1 at the plate.

The Portsmouth Little League 10U District Team continues to play in the District 2 Round Robin on Monday, July 10 at 5:45 PM vs. Laconia at Plains Field in Portsmouth.
