Portsmouth LL 10U Surge Past Somersworth in First District 2 Round Robin Game

Somersworth, NH -- The Portsmouth Little League 10U District Team opened its District 2 Round Robin with a 21-2 win over Somersworth on Thursday evening.

 

Nolan Malinowski earned the win on the mound for Portsmouth.  The starter tossed two and two-thirds hitless innings and struck out seven Somersworth batters.  Ryder Raizes appeared in relief and gave up one hit while earning the final out. Both Somersworth runs were unearned.

 

Portsmouth jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning thanks to singles from Marco Scardina, Malinowski, Rory O’Brien, Pierce Gillen, and Angus McCafferty.  Josh Miller’s double down the right field line scored two of his three RBIs, and Fletcher Jackson’s walk scored the sixth run of the inning. 

 

Portsmouth showed patience at the plate, drawing 11 walks in the game.  The team tacked on 15 runs in the bottom of the second inning with help from singles by Joey Coakley, Max Levine, Gillen, McCafferty and Scardina.  In total, the team collected 13 hits with each player on the roster scoring at least one run in the win. 

 

The Portsmouth Little League 10U District Team continues to play in the District 2 Round Robin this Saturday July 8 at 12:30pm at Hislop Field. , July 8 at 12:30 PM vs. Concord Little League at Hislop Field (Portsmouth).
