In the opening round of the NHD2 championship tournament Portsmouth [1st seed] beat Laconia [4th seed] 7-1 in a complete game at Hislop Park. Jakoby Schoppmeyer earned the win on the mound going 5 innings and giving up 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 9 batters. Finn McCauley came in in relief pitching a scoreless 6th inning to secure the win.
The Portsmouth offense pounded out 10 hits for 7 runs including a home run by Jack Ferrelli [2 for 2, run, RBI] as well as double and triple by Finn McCauley [run, RBI], and singles by Jake Poulin [run], Cam Stacy [run], Roan Wilson [run], Jack Moreau [RBI], Jack McElroy [run, RBI], and Theo Levine.
Portsmouth will play again on Wednesday at 5:45 at Hislop Park against the winner of Tuesday's game between Concord [2nd seed] and Rye [3rd seed].
