Volunteer Requirements

Concessions/Field Prep/Announcing

All of the work for Portsmouth Little League is done by volunteers. It is mandatory for parents to cover the following duties throughout the season. These same responsibilities also applies to the parents whose children play on a post-season all-star team.

  • Concessions - A parent from each team is assigned to cover the snack shack for each game. All parents are required to take 2 to 3 turns during the regular and playoff season in the concession stand. If a team does not cover the snack shack, they forfeit the game. Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to game time to set up. Children under 16 are not allowed in the snack shack due to liability issues.
  • Announcing - A parent from the VISITING TEAM is assigned to maintain the scoreboard and announce. Responsibilities are to announce the players as they go up to bat and use the scoring box to keep track of balls, strikes, outs and the score. Children are allowed to help with this activity, but an adult must be present at all times
  • Field Preparation - Preparation of the field is the responsibility of the HOME TEAM, parents are required to assist the coaching staff in raking and lining the field. Please arrive 20 minutes early to help in this effort.

Fundraising Requirements

Calendar Raffle

All players must participate in a Calendar Raffle – this is the league’s major fund raising event.  Your child will be required to sell a minimum of 15 calendars at $5.00/calendar.  You may opt out of the raffle by paying the $75.00 opt out fee; the fee must be paid during registration.
