Portsmouth 12s Roll to Win Over Somersworth in District 2 Round Robin
Alec Lyng struck out 11 batters as the pitcher led Portsmouth's Little League Baseball's Tournament team past Somersworth. The final score was 9-3 on Tuesday at Somersworth Youth Baseball Field. Lyng gave up three hits and allowed zero runs over five innings while walking just one.
Portsmouth wasted no time getting on the board, scoring in the top of the first inning after Alec's RBI single brought in a run. Moments later, a wild pitch allowed two more runners to cross the plate, giving Portsmouth an early 3-0 lead.
In the second, Pierce Gillen drew a bases-loaded walk to push the lead to 4-0. Portsmouth kept the momentum rolling with single runs in the third and fourth innings.
The game was firmly put out of reach in the top of the fifth, when Portsmouth tacked on three more runs, sealing a solid all-around performance and a well-earned win.
Ben Drapeau started on the bump for Somersworth. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and four runs (three earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out four and walking one. Jackson Kern appeared in relief for Portsmouth.
Portsmouth tallied 11 hits in the game. Lyng drove the middle of the lineup with two runs batted in. The three-hole hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Lyng, Henry Patterson and Angus McCafferty each collected two hits for Portsmouth. Rory O'Brien stole three bases.
For Somersworth, Drapeau went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead his team in hits.

Portsmouth 10U Surge Past Somersworth on Monday Thanks to Big First Inning
Portsmouth’s 10U District Team came out swinging on Monday night, erupting for eight runs in the first inning en route to a dominant 13–3 victory over Somersworth at Somersworth Youth Baseball Field.
Dougie McCafferty and Gabriel Fournier each delivered RBI singles to get things started before Julian Serrano launched a three-run homer to right field, electrifying the dugout. Aiden Cole followed with a two-run triple, and Brigsby Parsons capped the frame with a run-scoring groundout.
Portsmouth wasn’t done. In the bottom of the third, Cole tripled again—this time plating two more—and Parsons added another RBI groundout to extend the lead.
It was a complete team effort from start to finish as Portsmouth showcased their offensive firepower to open district play.
Fournier earned the win for Portsmouth. The righty surrendered zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking two. Tyler Ross appeared in relief for Portsmouth.
Aiden Cole led Portsmouth with two hits in two at bats. Seranno went 1-for-1 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Will Mayuski, Lucas Jones and Cody Shultz each stole multiple bases for Portsmouth, eight total.
Portsmouth will play at home on Wednesday against Rye at Plains Field at 5:45 PM.
