Portsmouth 12U Falls to Lamprey River 7-1 in Final Pool Game for NH District 2 Tournament.
Portsmouth’s 12U District Team finished its pool play round with a record of 5-1 and awaits final seeding on Saturday.
Lamprey River got on the board in the top of the third inning after two singles and a double plated two runs.
Lamprey River’s starting pitcher Kristof Barry allowed three hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out nine and walking three. Griffin Gamester took the loss for Portsmouth. The starting pitcher went three innings, surrendering two runs on four hits, striking out four and walking three.
Cooper Peelman, Miles Frank, and Alec Lyng each collected one hit for Portsmouth. Alec went 1-for-2 at the plate as the third baseman led the team with one run batted in. Lucas LaFleur led Portsmouth with two walks of the seven issued to Portsmouth.
Portsmouth (home team via coin flip) entered the bottom of the sixth down 7-0 and tried to mount a comeback after scoring one on a bases -loaded walk. But Lamprey River escaped further damage with a clutch, bases-loaded strikeout to end the game.
Portsmouth awaits seeding in NH’s District 2’s double-elimination tournament, and its expected that the schedule will be officially released late Saturday evening.
